In my prior post I gave the information on connections and the connectors to buy from the same supplier, Newark.Well be adding on the standard MadJax stuff (leaf springs, mirrors, rear seats, etc), but our cart speeds range from 8-13mph.We began researching connecting to the control to check the speed settings, and came across this thread.
Our goal is to ensure all of them are set to speed mode 3 and then troubleshoot further any that are slower. Our carts have the 1510A-5251 Curtis Controllers which I believe are proprietary for Club Car. As I mentioned, we do have the cable above, an old Thinkpad laptop running Windows XP and a physical serial port (COM1), and we have the Curtis 1314 PCPS OEM 4.6.7 software. Unfortunately we are unable to establish a connection with the controller. We connect the wires to the laptop and cart, turn the cart to run, turn the cart on, and the red power LED does light up on the cable, but the software is unable to connect. That cable will work with the old version, but youll probably be limited in what you can access in the controller with that software. Bob. I assume these should all read OK since it sounds like you have a working cart. It may be your dongle, the one in that link looks a bit cheap so its possible there is an issue with it. Double check your portprotocol tab in 1314 make sure its set to serial. For some reason too using the auto detect after selecting this sometimes helps. It seems that you are using an old DB9 style serial connector. I thought I read the newer software requires USB and it acts like a security dongle, at least to access higher programming levels. I am unsure if you can access 1314 V4.6.7 with DB9. A suggestion is to consider trying the 1314 V3.12 software to see it if allows access to the controller. You are correct, I skipped the serial to USB adapter as some said to avoid the driver headaches. I wondered if there may be restrictions with the newestes software. This is a good suggestion, I am downloading 3.12 now and will give it a go. Thank you. I am downloading v3.12, but curious when you have a free moment, can you also please share a link to such a cable that you mentioned.
